| Abstract: Purge and archive of older, seldom used data is one of the most effective techniques for optimizing system performance. It also helps meet data retention (or destruction) goals, reduces disaster recovery times, makes upgrades quicker and more successful, and makes your users happier. Unfortunately, few packaged applications include robust (if any) purge functionality.ARCTOOLS is a leading purge and archive solution for the IBM i, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms, and has over 400 Oracle JDEdwards customers running World and E1 on all platforms. ARCTOOLS also offers “accelerators” for other packages such as Oracle Demantra, ERP packages such as BPCS, and other software such as JDA MMS. ARCTOOLS can also be used “DIY” by customers to develop purge functionality for other packaged and custom applications.
Objective 1: Learn from the JDE archiving market leader the benefits of managing your data and see real-world results from multiple JDE customers. Purge, Archive and Upgrades a Case Study from DBGSession: 102400 |
| Abstract: Oracle recommends purging your data as part of an upgrade. DBG Canada was in the middle of an upgrade from E1 8.10 to 9.1 when they realized that they were facing an absolute showstopper – the 15 years of data they were carrying would take too long for the data upgrade. Plants would have been shut down for days, resulting in major business disruptions and lost revenues. DBG selected ARCTOOLS as their purge and archive solution. The software was implemented in parallel with the ongoing upgrade project. The archive was successful, and the upgrade was successful and on time. DBG realized many benefits from the archive project beyond just surviving the upgrade. These will be discussed in more detail in the session. Learn from DBG’s experience how important archiving can the success of an upgrade project – regardless of whether or not you have issues such as theirs.
